A ring of providers and advocates for the act of childbirth as a natural life event through midwifery. For professional labor assistants (doulas), childbirth educators, and midwives. Midwifery is the practice of facilitating natural births, often at home. The best techniques involve as little intervention as possible. Women's bodies were designed to give birth. If the design is studied and respected, the outcome is far superior to that in obstetrical births. Childbirth should not be a medical event. There are a number of different kinds of midwives. Some are Certified Nurse Midwives, some are lay midwives, and there are women who have been doing midwifery in the old way for many years. This ring welcomes them all. It is a place where information can be eschanged so we can increase our skills.
